MOYAMBA, Southern Sierra Leone – The Ministry of Information and Civic Education (MOICE) commenced a significant public outreach today in Moyamba District, aiming to gauge public opinion, clarify misinformation, and foster closer ties between the government and its citizens. The initiative, led by Minister of Information Chernor Bah and an entourage of ministers and heads of departments, many of whom are indigenous to the district, seeks to bring governance closer to the people.

The day's events, which followed a precursor of simulcast radio discussions across Moyamba led by MOICE outreach coordinator Joe Sesay, included a quiz competition, focus group discussions, and contemporary translations of key government messages. Dignitaries present included representatives of Paramount Chiefs, the Moyamba District Council Chairman, the Head of NACSA, and numerous other officials from key government departments. A central theme of the outreach is to emphasize the importance of tax collection for national development, foster patriotism, and highlight the crucial role of the media in accurate information dissemination and civic education.

Tomorrow's agenda will see government ministers and key department heads directly answering questions from the public, providing an open forum for citizens to engage with their leaders. This direct engagement is a core component of MOICE's strategy to enhance transparency and accountability.

The Ministry of Information and Civic Education (MOICE) is tasked with ensuring effective communication between the government and the populace. Its mandate includes disseminating accurate government information, combating misinformation and disinformation, and promoting civic responsibility among Sierra Leonean citizens. Through such direct engagements, MOICE aims to build trust, address public concerns, and foster a more informed and engaged citizenry.
